Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Now With Voting!]
Voting Now Open! Here are instructions:
Vote for up to 3 options. Pick the games you would most want to play. GMs have individual symbols for their games if they only want to run one OR the other, so keep those in mind when voting as only one of a symbol pair will get run.
You have a week to vote, so choose carefully - you will not be able to change your vote once submitted. Voting closes (semi) exactly one week from now (the morning of the 12th of October).
GMs: If there is any error in your post or you want to provide a title instead of my guessed one (for you slackers that didn't) let me know. I'll probably be out till this evening but I'll make edits then, if any.
-----------------------------------------------------------
[Mod Edit: Please see new dates below, they have been extended for the new date of the con]
Ok, anyone and everyone feel free to pimp your games here! Please remember the following:
* a max of 2 submissions per person (one is ok as well if you know you have a winner).
* any game, any game system - we're pretty open around here
* bring your best pitch, because it won't get on the schedule without some votes!
* also, please note whether you would be down to run 2 games if both of your pitches are voted in, or if you would prefer only one. Doesn't always come up, but helps us organize it if it does.
We want time for the GMs to be able to prep, so we need votes done by the weekend of the 12th of October. Pimp until the 5th of October, then we'll vote from the 5th to the 12th and GMs will have about 4 weeks to prep for those lucky enough to have gotten the votes.
Ok, go!

Final Exam (for Dark Heresy 2nd edition Beta) 1-shot for up to six players.
In the year of His glory 5473.812.M41, you have accompanied the Inquisitor Dragur Gan into the Jericho Reach with elements of the Achilus Crusade to hunt heretics and xenos on the worlds brought back into the Emperor's Light.
Inquisitor Gan has sent you and the rest of his warband to the planet to conduct an audit of the Vorl's Rest, a rediscovered agri-world on the far flung frontier of the Orpheus Salient. The planet was liberated from the abominable Stigmartus heretics by 1st Scholari Scriveners, the 1st and 2nd Castobel Reborn, and the 17th Scintillan Fusiliers (four newly minted Imperial Guard regiments).
You know that rest of Dragur Gan's acolytes are arriving to assist in the audit before the planet wide Inquisitorial Examination can begin in sixteen weeks. In approximately three months, two more Inquisitors will arrive. Two years ago, Inquisitor Gan had participated in the liberation efforts as a favor to Lord-Captain Werveuk of Battlefleet Argo. Now your master has ordered all of his acolytes to thoroughly catalog every incidence of suspected heresy on Vorl's Rest in preparation for the imminent Examination hearings.
All the acolytes have been briefed that the planet is a feudal agriworld with a largely tropical climate and a 27 hour long day cycle. Located on the Eastern Fringe of the Orpheus Salient i.e. the frontier. Before its liberation Vorl's Rest boasted continent wide granaries, rich plantations, and abundant fisheries which in Munitorum wishes to Tithe for the good of the entire Jericho Reach. However much of the infrastructure lies in ruin, as do many major cities. Imperial Tacticians fear the heretic insurgent groups could still be in hiding on the planet and until they are rooted out, the Vorl's Rest cannot be recolonized. Thus its value to the Achilus Crusade out of reach until it can be fully restored to the Imperial Creed.
The planet had been ruled by the six blood kings and their Stigmartus allies whose forces had been broken by the Imperial Guard action two years before, Gan had witnessed it himself, and had personally conducted a fiery purge of the dead kings noble bloodlines. The planet was now ostensibly ruled by the Administratum and a garrison of the 1st Castobel Reborn, but its population is in decline and many of its farms were destroyed in the fighting or the fires that followed Liberation Day.
Play as Inquisitor Gan and members of his elite warband as he personally investigates the four settlements on the western continent: the granary fortress of Zwartstein, the Seaport of Predu, and the serf plantations of Immund's Landing and Schleifstein in the Vistar region in his hunt for heresy.
Character sheets for Inquisitor Gan, a Mech-Assassin, a Sister of Silence, a Sister of Battle, a Navigator, and an Imperial Guard Commissar will be provided.
OR
All Flesh Must Be Eaten: Senior Citizen Slaughter 2: You thought you escaped? You thought it was over? You may have shambled out of Shady Palms nursing home alive, but the horror has just begun. Thankfully you made it down the road into the welcome embrace of the Coushatta Resort Casino and Buffet but can you leave without rescuing Andy Griffith from the eighteenth annual Matlock Convention! Not to mention the Zombies!
A sequel to the first Senior Citizen Slaughter. Six pregens provided.
EDIT Only willing to run one of these. Additionally for those that don't remember Senior Citizen Slaughter was an AFMBE scenario involving octogenarians facing off against a zombie outbreak, Bubba Hotep style. I ran it at the 3rd or 4th Hyphen-Con at Wintermutes' place.

tremulus Laundry: CASE LAMBENT WITCH
The "Case Lambert Witch" adventure from Black Bag Jobs. Modified for the tremulus system. The Witch Bravo oil platform is not responding to radio signals from the shore. Something very strange is going on out there—and according to the Laundry archives, the platform is drilling right where the Deep Ones told us to not to go. It is off to the North Sea for zombies, shoggoths and your best impression of the marines from Aliens.
-- or --
tremulus: Ebon Eaves
Strangers meet in the town of Ebon Eaves, each wanting something from the sleepy, out of the way place. But the town holds dark secrets and a mysterious past, one that threatens the visitors at every step. The nature pf these mysteries are determined by the players at the table by answering the playset questions, and the characters they choose.

1. GET RUNNING
I propose to play Shadowrun using Fate Accelerated. This is a super-simple pared down version of Fate where you can make up everything at the table. I'd like to get 4 players to sit down, do chargen, and choose one of the following scenarios:
• Stealing the prototype of a new microdrone from the
secured offices of Mitsuhama.
• Breaking into a secured node in the elven kingdom of
Tír Tairngire to find out who the High Prince has been
contacting about alleged orichalcum discoveries.
• Sneaking into a corporate enclave in Neo-Tokyo and
slipping out a promising engineer with a supposedly
unbreakable contract so that a competitor can make a
new offer.
• Infiltrating the Congress of the United Canadian and
American States to discover just who is being controlled
by the mysterious, nefarious Black Lodge.
• Investigating reports of high-ranking corporate
executives in Hong Kong who have been acting erratically
and have vanished for days at a time.
• Exploring weaknesses in the new Matrix protocols and
selling whatever you discover to the highest bidder.
• Pursuing rumors of powerful artifacts hidden in a
mysterious Antarctic tower.
• Subtly—and permanently—silencing a prominent
politician’s second wife.
• Infiltrating the Sea Dragon’s undersea lair and stealing a
claw to be used by magic researchers.
• Discovering what plans the neo-anarchists of Berlin have
that might upset corporate interests.
• Stopping a notorious toxic shaman believed to be
hiding in the horribly polluted, quarantined Saar Special
Administrative Zone.
• Finding out who was behind Aztechnology re-inserting
themselves into the divided city of Denver—and then
making them pay.
• Discovering just what NeoNET is doing under the heading
of Project Imago.
• Breaking into the Ancients’ headquarters and sending
them a clear message about where elves are welcome
and where they are not.
OR
2. What Evil Lurks in the Beholder's Lair?
The fair land of Brunton is being held for ransom by a not-so-subtle mastermind Beholder named Ee-gah-ix. The ultimatum is simple: deliver 13 virgins(6 boys, 6 girls, and one hermaphrodite) and a chest full of platinum or be destroyed by a rampage of Ee-gah-ix and his evil minions. The adventurers have been chosen to deliver the ransom, but it is hoped they will return with the virgins unharmed, the platinum untouched, and the beholder slain!
This is a DungeonWorld! game for 4 players
I'd like to run either game, but not both.

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game!
OKay, I'll submit:
System: Mythus Prime (easy to learn)
Situation: Some one is spying on your rooms at the Inn. Rats, or something else. Can you discover what, what (if anything) is behind them? And what lies beyond them.
For two to four players, with rules taught and session run by a flexible GM. Pre made characters.

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Extended Deadline!]
Here are my submissions. I have two ideas -
a) ACTION-COOL-TEAM! A game based on '70-'80s action adventure TV shows (like A-Team, Charlie's Angels, Starsky and Hutch, Riptide, Blue Thunder, etc), using the Lady Blackbird system.
b) PPAS - Pentex Predicament Avoidance Squad. A crack group of ultra-competent agents who perform black-ops for the mega-corporation Pentex, get an assignment to investigate strange goings-on in a small Colorado town, near the future site of a new Pentex corporate-industrial campus. I was going to use WoD system for this, but I think I'll give FAE a try.

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Extended Deadline!]
Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars
Kids, shine your astro-spurs and don your robot fists, 'cause it's time for Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars!
Justice rides a rocket steed across the crimson plains of the fourth planet! In the future of tomorrow, America expands ever westward into the wildest west of all: outer space! One planet is thought to be light-years beyond the reach of law and order. But one man brings fear to robuts and aliens, and hope to the human settlers who yearn to make this frontier planet their home. He is Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars! With his faithful Martian companion Croach the Tracker and as many as three other PCs, Sparks Nevada rights the outlaw wrongs on Mars!
This is based on Fate Accelerated Edition with a bunch of weird changes to make it even more accessible to first-time gamers. No prior knowledge of "Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars" required, although if you don't have any, you're missing out. This is a playtest, and it needs playtesting, so if you could help me out with that, I'd be much obliged.
Note: We will, of course, listen to the Sparks Nevada theme song before playing.

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Extended Deadline!]
Here are 2 pitches(and one alternate) from my friend Todd, who is awesome, but can't get access to these boards for some reason:
Cat: The Game Where You Play A Cat: Back by popular demand! It's just what it sounds like, and it's surprisingly fun to play. (Must love cats.)
Primetime Adventures: I've had good luck playing out pilot episodes of this game at Cons. I suspect it would be just as fun at Hyphen-Con.
Our Last Best Hope: Like Fiasco, but for disaster movies.

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Extended Deadline!]
Hello again! I figured I'll throw in some classic D&D-ish (Well, D&D 4th anyway) stuff in here, just in case... (Yes, these are both modules, but I'll run something more 'creative' when my GM skill level increases.)
Thunderspire Labyrinth: Pursuing a gang of slavers, you come to the vast Labyrinth - a long-ruined minotaur city beneath the mountain known as Thunderspire. Here folk from the surface and the Underdark meet in lantern-lit halls under the protection of the mysterious Mages of Saruun. Rescuing the slavers' hapless captives only leads to deeper and darker threats, as vicious demon-tainted gnolls secretly plot with renegade mages to seize Thunderspire for their own.
and / or
Pyramid of Shadows: Trapped in the myserious Pyramid of Shadows, an ancient conqueror plots his escape. When you stunble into his infernal prison, he seizes the opportunity he has sought for centuries. Can you find your way through a monster-infested dungeon, negotiate the tensions and alliances among its factions, and reach the Sanctuary of Light before Karacakos escapes, sealing you inside the Pyramid of Shadows forever?

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Extended Deadline!]
I might as well pitch one.
The Demolished Ones (Fate)
You wake in a room.
You don’t where you are, where you came from, what’s happening. You don’t know who you are. Your identity has been taken from you. It will come back with time, but can you trust it? This world is not what it seems. Are you?
And then there’s the murder.
Who killed the dead man? Was it you? Was it one of the people who woke in the room with you? Are you all being blamed for a crime you didn't commit? If you want to keep your freedom, you’ll need to solve the mystery of Jack Smith’s murder while you solve the riddle of your own identity. But is freedom even possible, or is it just another lie?
It's just something I found on Drive Thru RPG recently that I've been looking for an excuse to read.

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Now With Voting!]
Ok, so I've been slacking but the poll ended Saturday, so all votes are in! here is what we have:
These games are definitely being run, and all GMs that prefer to run one session got heavily voted for one particular game, so everything good there:
[Sadohara] ALPHA FLIGHT (Marvel Super Heroes) (5)
[Cthulhu] Laundry: CASE LAMBENT WITCH (Tremulus) (4)
[cczernia] Tenra Bansho Zero (Tenra Bansho Zero) (4)
We have a bunch of ties with 3 votes as well:
[Savage Slacker] What Evil Lurks in the Beholder's Lair? (3)
[mordraine] Pentex Predicament Avoidance Squad (FATE Accelerated Edition) (3)
[highoffpixels] What a Drag! (FATE) (3)
[AnotherFangirl] The Demolished Ones (Fate) (3)
[Todd] Cat: The Game Where You Play A Cat (Cat)
[Todd] Primetime Adventures (Primetime Adventures)
Technically this is 5 games (not six) as Todd will need to choose one or the other, since he specified only running one slot and both of his games were voted equally at 3. the other of his games will drop out.
We should be needing 3 tables per session this year based on the vote numbers I'm seeing, plus an alternate game (or two) in the (historically unlikely) event that a GM can't make it or (somewhat more historically likely) event that more people show up than voted. That leaves us 3 spots and 5 games tied for those.
If anyone that got 3 votes for their game wants all the glamour* of prepping without the hassle of having to actually run a game**, speak up now. Otherwise we can figure out which game Todd isn't running, and move the votes for people that had voted for it to tie-break.
*it's British style, you know. they uh... love prepping things.
** there is a non-zero chance you will still be running your game. not sure on the odds, but I know at least one or 2 people in SD that didn't vote, and maybe a couple from further up north. If there are 4 or 5 we have enough for another table, so.... yeah. Plus, we have the 'unofficial' late-night slot, as always.

I'll be prepared to run my Sparks Nevada game. It needs playtesting!

I'm ok with being pushed to a back up slot. (But I wont be staying awake for the unofficial late night slot)
I'd also be ok with it if Mike tried to steal my back-up slot.
I know at least 2 folks from my group "up north" didn't vote.

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Now With Voting!]
Ok, so we still have a 4-way tie for the last 3 spots:
[Savage Slacker] What Evil Lurks in the Beholder's Lair? (3)
[mordraine] Pentex Predicament Avoidance Squad (FATE Accelerated Edition) (3)
[highoffpixels] What a Drag! (FATE) (3)
[Todd] Cat: The Game Where You Play A Cat (Cat)
If nobody volunteers for the backup slot in the next couple days we'll just settle this in true gamer fashion - either the Thunderdome! or I will roll a d4. whichever is easier to setup at the time :)

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Now With Voting!]
Ok, so the game lineup is set. Nobody else stepped up, so I rolled a d4 and came up 3, so 'What a Drag!' is moving to a backup slot:
Regular Slots:
[Sadohara] ALPHA FLIGHT (Marvel Super Heroes) (5)
[Cthulhu] Laundry: CASE LAMBENT WITCH (Tremulus) (4)
[cczernia] Tenra Bansho Zero (Tenra Bansho Zero) (4)
[Savage Slacker] What Evil Lurks in the Beholder's Lair? (Dungeon World) (3)
[mordraine] Pentex Predicament Avoidance Squad (Fate Accelerated Edition) (3)
[Todd] Cat: The Game Where You Play A Cat (Cat)
Backup Slots:
[highoffpixels] What a Drag! (Fate) (3)
[AnotherFangirl] The Demolished Ones (Fate) (3)
-------
GMs - get crackin' on those games!

Was there any discussion of the date next year? Is November going to be the new Hyph-time, or will it be moving back to April or another time?
