Nobilis - A game of Powers

Post by mrlost »

I wanted to volunteer to run Nobilis for you guys one of these nights. It does have Angels and Demons as Heaven and Hell are key players (reluctant allies and bitter foes in the setting).

Awesome, you should run it as a oneshot first. Perhaps after Trinity and then we can decide if we want to keep going with it.

I've only got the 2nd edition... When I get back from my trip I'll try and find a free day to run. This new schedule of mine is killing me.

Meleager Mockraven, Baron of Mists and Regret
Baron Mockraven cares little for affairs of state, and for anyone else even less.
He is consistently late and never keeps appointments. Most Nobles believe that
the Estates of Mists and Regret would be better served by anyone at all, and they
expect to see Mockraven replaced some day soon. Meleager has occupied his post
for the past three years, the first Power of Regret who doesn't regret anything at all.
This is because he lost his memories to his Imperator, in a game of cards when he was still a mortal man.

His Imperator hollowed out his head and filled it with icy waters from the river Styxx, then burnt his body to a fine ash
until all that was left was icy mist. Bodiless the Baron coalesed into his current form, one of mist made manifest.

Mockraven drinks heavily and some believe that this has something to do with his forgetfulness.

Aspect 3: Inhuman, 10, aMPs
Domain 1: Baronet, 10, dMPs
Realm 0: Citizen, 10 rMPs
Spirit 1: Hearthfire, 10, sMPs

Secondary Domain:
Mists

Gifts and Virtues:
Carefree (Virtue), Durant, Elemental, and Flight (no wings)

Bonds
Estate of Regret 5
Estate of Mists 4
Recovering his lost memories 3
Revenge against the Excurcian eternal child, Lexiarchos Caducine 3
Games of Chance 2
Chancel Governance 2
Love for his mortal descendents 1

Limits/Restrictions: MPs back
Code of the Wild: Freedom is the highest principle. Sanity and mundanity are prisons. Give in kind with a gift received.
Disabled: Amnesia 2
Restriction: Alcoholic 1
Restriction: Always unabashedly late 1-2

Wound Levels
2 Deadly Wounds (Durant)
2 Serious Wounds
3 Surface Wounds

Estates: Baron Mockraven's estates are Mists and Regret. Mist or fog is quite simply a spooky weather phenomena while regret is an emotional reaction to certain events. Mockraven can create and control fog or mist just as he can identify, craft, create, destroy or modify regrets. Regrets being in this case memories of things that you wish you could have done differently but now haunt you.

Trigapomp, Viscount of Birds and Famine

An androgynous winged beauty who wears a blindfold over its unsettling eyes to hide its former nature as an Excurcian-shard of Strategist Lexiarchos Caducine. The last time your Imperator defeated Caducine, he stole you away from the Strategist, baptized and sculptured your body into the pale reflection of his angelic form. Your touch turns men into birds and you still carry Caducine's soul cutting sword Malefactor which is capable of chopping through miracles.

Attributes:
Aspect 0: Mortal with 8 amps
Domain 2: Viscount with 8 dmps
Realm 1: Radiant with 8 rmps
Spirit: 0: Candleflame with 8 smps

Exclusive Attribute:
High Summoning 1: Companion to Monsters with 10 hmps

Secondary Domain: Birds

Gifts: Eternal 3, Feathered Touch (transforms a human man to a bird if you touch them) 1, Flight (with Wings) 1, Glorious 2, and Soul-carving Sword (lesser abhorent weapon that can reflexively cut through miracles at a cost of a SMP) 1

Handicaps/Limits/Restrictions:
Code of the Angels: Beauty is the highest principle. Justice is a form of Beauty. Lesser beings should respect their betters.
Bargain Handicap: Must sacrifice a virgin boy to the unspeakable Shurma-Mak-Gorax every month 2
Imperfect Command Restriction: the HG will occasionally put some obstacle in the way of the character properly fulfilling an established pact, or, alternately, declare a new obligation on which some entity now insists. 2
Imperfect Knowledge Limit: the player can expect the HG to adjust the point totals, Gifts, and Handicaps for summoned creatures to fit whatever inspiration strikes. Occasionally creatures will differ dramatically from the player’s design. 2
Student of Summoning Limit: the character is constantly picking up after High Summoning-related disasters. In a typical story, they will have some Summoning-related problem that requires a scene or two of effort to resolve. 2

There is a secret world where instead of humans, the people are colorful balloons. They can twist themselves up into animal or human shapes but doing so reduces their life expectancy. They can also cluster together in the sky to create big cities. Sometimes balloons fall out of the balloon-people world into our world and then they cannot talk or change their shape, but if you find seven of them, you can tie them into a bunch and fly with them into the balloon-people world, where you will be a hero. But if you want to return home afterwards, they will be very insulted and may drop you from great heights.

Coming soon the Power of Balloons

Demonic Noble

Post by mrlost »

Zagreus, Pawn of Paperwork.

The Estate of Paperwork: Includes routine and banal record keeping, with limited influence over paper, and finding information.

Attributes:
Aspect 3: Inhuman with 5 AMPs
Domain 0: Pawn with 5 DMPs
Realm 0: Citizen with 5 RMPs
Spirit 2: Incandescent Flame with 5 SMP

Gifts: Comprehensive Shapeshifting (any humanoid shape) 2, Firebreathing 1,
Helpful Estate 5, Immortal 6

Limit: Hated
The inhabitants of your chancel don't like you, and the higher your Realm level, the more they hate you and the more organized is the conspiracy against you. They may not act openly against you (since you are a Noble, after all), but any time they might have an opportunity to screw you in some way large or small, count on being screwed. 1 RMP when you get inconvenienced.
Limit: Light Touch
You cannot directly control your Anchors, and cannot work miracles through them without their consent. 1-4 SMPs

Restriction: Cigarette Bond. Zagreus is formally bound to befriend anyone with whom they share a smoke. 1 MP when he is bound to a nice Power, 2 MP when bound to an enemy Power, and 3 MP when bound to an Excrucian.

Restriction: Hated by Animals.

Restriction: Summonable. Zagreus can be summoned will Earthly magic, cannot cross an unbroken pentagram. This restriction is worth 1 MP when it comes up in play, and 2 MP should he ever be held against his will in a pentagram.

Restriction: Visible. Zagreus sprouts horns whenever he lies, his skin reddens whenever he kills, and his eyes burn with fire when he is angry. The more excessive the action, the greater the chance it will manifest in his appearance. These marks last until the end of the story.

Virtue: Deceitful. No force can compel Zagreus to to honesty and no miracle can wring the truth from his words.

Bonds:
6 Keeping his playground (the prosaic world) safe from Excrucians.
5 His ability to defend the Estate of Paperwork.
1 Enticing Mortals into his service.
1 Corrupting his cousin Trigapomp's anchors.
1 Red tape.
1 Cigarettes and his access to them.

Code of the Fallen Angels: Corruption is the Highest Principle. Suffering is a form of Corruption. Power justifies itself.

Wound Levels
2 Deadly Wounds (Immortal)
2 Serious Wounds
3 Surface Wounds

Twist, the Baron of Balloons

The Estate of Balloons governs inflatable flexible bag filled with a gas, such as helium, hydrogen, nitrous oxide, oxygen, or air. Balloons drift uncontrolled and cannot be self propelled in order to be included under Duke Twist's purview.

Attributes:
Aspect 0: Of Mortal Form with 8 AMPs
Domain 1: Baron with 5 DMPs
Realm 4: True King with 5 RMPs
Spirit 3: Sunfire with 5 SMP

Gifts: Balloon assisted flight (his anchors can fly as long as they grip one or more balloons, although one of his anchors is a balloon person) 1.

Limit: Bodiless. Twist was popped long ago in a terrible accident involving a safety pin, three rubberbands, some contraceptive, and a time machine. He can only act through his anchors, and can only initiate new anchors via an infusion of blood or tears from an established anchor. Should Twist lose all his anchors, he will fade away. Furthermore, Twist must pay one extra AMP for each Aspect miracle he performs. Each time this limit inconveniences Twist, he gains 3 MPs

Code of the Light: Humanity Must Live, and Live Forever. What Must be Done Ought be done cleanly. Humans must be protected.

Bonds:
6 The sanctity of the Estate of Balloons
4 His anchor, King Joe Priestly, a human master of the Chancel.
3 The well-being of the Familia's Chancel, the Balloon People World..
3 His other anchor, High Inquisitive Zap von Zeppelin, a Balloon-person inquisitor.
3 Loyal service to his Imperator.
1 Entertaining human children.

Wounds: None. (If Twist was able to restore his body he would have 1 Deadly, 1 Serious, and 2 Surface Wounds)

Sorry to let you all down. I went to Mexicali with my fiancee to get her meds refilled, she ended up getting a minor surgical procedure and it took over 2 hours to get back to the states.
