MacDougall's excitement was clearly visible in his trembling hands which made the papers shake in the dim light. "Do you know what this is?" MacDougall displayed a sketch of a three dimensional shape looping in upon itself. Around it were various equations in Greek notation, with bits and ...

MacDougall snapped to attention, placing a hand in front of Langston to stop him in his tracks. "What could you possibly help me with? Do you have a degree in advanced topology? Were you at Oxford, 'old chap'? I think that the British intelligence has done a right good job of mucking things up,...

MacDougall stared off into the distance, as if Langston didn't exist. The beads of sweat cascaded slowly down his brow, his hair falling into his eyes and partially obscuring his gaze. He murmured, "Fine, yes fine. Tea would be... just fine." MacDougall turned slowly, and paced back into t...

MacDougall began the lost task of sifting through the papers, arranging them to correspond to the photograph. His mind knew that a pattern would emerge from the chaos. The exact order was important, as was the orientation and condition of every scrap of paper. After the task was complete, he stepped...

Scene 1.5.2 - MacDougall's musings

Niles paced down the hall to the antechamber, his mind ablaze with thoughts. All of his documents? Why would the British military seize everything from Crutcher's library? Most of his files dissapeared shortly after his death. Did they have a hand in this? They must have known about this for years.....

"All of Crutcher's documents? How extraordinary! Do you release what sort of discoveries lie within those pages? It will take me weeks, no months, to make some sense of them!" Niles nervously smeared his hair back to his head. "If you can tell me exactly what you are looking for, then...

"Grown.... shut, you say? How in the name of God does that happen?" Niles stared into his cup for a moment, as if looking for answers. "I don't know if this has any relevance to your... case or not. While I was at Oxford I stumbled across the papers of a Dr. Timothy Crutcher while I w...

MacDougall took another chair, and produced a set of wire-rimmed glasses from his coat pocket. "Thank you, Colonel. I'll take a cup as well, please." "Now," Niles continued, fixing the the frames to his nose, "what can we do for King and country? I am sure you have very good...

Niles brought the cigarette to his lips, unlit, and smoothed his hair back in place. The walls shook for an instant as another shell made it's mark outside. Damnit, they're close! thought Niles. What could be so important in this library to justify staying out of the shelters? "I hope that you'...

MacDougall rises

Debillings! Niles MacDougall felt a burning sensation on his right hand as the cigarette fell from his lips, spraying ashes on his dark grey suit. Damn it, he cursed softly to himself as he saw the rest of the group rise to their feet. Brushing off the last remainding embers, Niles clasped a hand on...
