TRANSFORMERS

Variety has confirmed the reports that Michael Bay is in talks to direct TRANSFORMERS for DreamWorks. As they put it, the project had stalled until Steven Spielberg hatched a new concept, which current screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci developed and pitched to Bay (who worked with them on THE ISLAND). He sparked to the idea and now the two sides are in negotiations with filming scheduled to begin this fall. Bay's deal will be contigent on his approval of the final script, which is due by the end of this month.

I know the geek community would draw and quarter me for saying this (if they cared that much), but Jesus, what is this weird, undying fascination with Transformers?

They're robots... in disguise.

but don't you see? that's what they want you to think. the decepticons are a very real problem right now, and the autobots are our only hope for peace.

The reason Transformers are so cool is they take little boys favorite things and slam them together: cars, tanks, airplanes, trains, bugs, dinosaurs and robots. :)

Hasn't there been enough transformer movies?

Perhaps they should *stay* in disguise ;)

In answer to your question, BoC, no. There has only been one movie. But, now that's officially going to change.

Well, at least the animation techniques have improved. Dunno if we need another movie. Oh well, yet another for the netflix queue. Wonder if I should bump myself up to 5 at a time.

Yeah, I never got that into Transformers, but the idea of live-action giant robots is too cool to pass up.

Now, a gritty, "realistic" GI Joe would kick ass. Ya know, where Cobra agents actually DIE when their vehicles are hit with a rocket?

I'll settle for shit actually getting hit for a change.
