The Crew
Here's where I will post everyone's character sheet.
Also, here's a list of the Crew as it stands right now:
Captain Richard Wraith - dnd3eplayer
Commander Umarin Dra - Skyman
Lt. Komar - Cthulhu
Lt. Robert “Bob” Dixon - Gotetsu
Commander David Witherspoon - opwunder
Captain Sslarr - mordraine
How to read these character sheets:
Attributes in a normal human are mesured between 2 and 12, with 4 to 7 being the average range. The numbers in the ()'s are modifiers, and work just like modifiers in D20 (meaning they are added to skills or other rolls that relate to that attribute).
Reactions are basically Saving Throws, and again work like saves in D20. Quickness is the ability to dodge. Savvy is mental equivelant to Quickness, and provides resistance to pursuasion as well as the ability to detect lies. Stamina is the ability to resist poisons and desease. Willpower is the mental eqivilant to Stamana.
Courage is a kind of "action point" that can be used to add +3 to any one die roll during the game. You renew all your Courage at the begining of each adventure, and can increase your Courage score through advancements.
Defense is just like Armor Class in D20.
Health is like hit points. There are 6 wound levels, and each time you take damage equal to your health, you drop one wound level. The wound levels are Healthy, Dazed, Injured, Wounded, Incapacitated and Near Death. Each has corrispondingly higher penalities to die rolls, going in order 0, -1, -3, -5, -7, -9. If you are Near Death and take enough damage to lower your health to zero or more, you are dead.
Skills have two parts two them. The first is the specalities, which are marked in ()'s. These are areas within that skill that you excell at, and when that specality comes into play, you get bonuses to that skill. Note that you can still use the skill even if your specality does not apply. The second part is the bonus number afterwards. When making a Skill Test, you add your skill level (the number listed on the sheet) and the attribute modifier to the die roll to achieve a total.
Edges are kind of like feats, in that they are extra abilities that provide you with advantages.
Professional Abilities are special abilities you gained through your Profession.
Let me know about any questions you have.
Is this where we should post 'character creation' stuff? I've got some ideas for fleshing out the cap'n to post ]
If you got ideas, post 'em. :)
I have some ideas based on the way I made the characters, but it's really up to you. Won't change the characters any.

Nothing too major at the moment, but I did have a fun idea, background-wise.
It seems that a few of the crew know each other, and looking over Wraith's sheet I saw he had Track and Field, so I got an idea...
In a close crew, it is often the case that other crewmembers will know something about you that you would rather they didn't. In that vein, I would like Wraith to have an 'incident' related to track and field in his past that will be referenced from time to time (just good-natured jibes and such). I thought it would be fun to leave it nebulous, like everyone knows it exists, but never really mentions it's specifics (like an in-joke that is never explained). I'd call it 'the shot-put incident'
As an example: During a tense moment, Wraith and Dixon are trying to track down a stowaway onboard, and they come across a hidden explosive device, put there who knows when by their sworn enemy. Wraith says "Well, I'm glad we found it when we did, etc.." and Dixon smiles broadly and shoots back "Yeah, they really could'a shot-putted us with that one, eh cap?"
Just a wacky idea. Wadda ya think?

Sweet. And now that I've undermined my own authority just a bit, Wraith can lead with the smooth conviction (unease) that everyone is accustomed to :) But maybe, just maybe we can pull off our mission(s) if we stick together.
Hm.. I'll have to work on my inspirational speeches, it seems. Maybe I can steal some material from one of the lesser known captains

So, here's some basic background on each character:
Captain Richard Wraith Richard Wraith had always been good at sports. Fencing, Track and Field even Boxing. Everyone thought he would eventually become an Olympic Athlete. He surprised everyone when he joined Starfleet, though he continued to be good at sports there. During his time in the academy, he was Golden Gloves champion in Boxing, and had lead the Academy Track and Field Team in many categories.
Commander Umarin Dra - Umarian was what is popullarly known as a "Starfleet Brat." Both her parents were Starfleet officers, her father now an Admeral in charge of the 3rd Fleet, and her mother an instructor at the Academy. It was then no surprise when she joined Starfleet, and her parents have high hopes for her.
Lt. Komar - Komar's early life was spent following his parents from one planet to another, never staying in one place too long, and always trying to "make a quick credit." They spent a lot of time in Federation space, and so Komar learned a lot of how his culture was viewed by that society. He grew to believe that his culture had fallen, instead of "risen to the great hight it is," as his parents would have him believe. So, he joined Starfleet, hoping to prove to the universe that not all Orions are gypsies or even part of the Syndicate.
Lt. Robert “Bob” Dixon - Bob Dixon's father was part of the Earth Defense Force, specifically the ground forces division, commonally called the Army. He spend his life travelling from one millitary base to another across the globe, though his heart always resided with Texas, the state he was born in and spent most of his life in. While he admired his father, the Army was just not big enough for him. So, he joined Starfleet, hoping to not only protect Earth, but the whole Federation.
Commander David Witherspoon - David Witherspoon's parents were both polotitions. In fact, his father is the current Earth Embassador to the UFP, and sits on the councel. Thus, young David's life was spent listining to delegates and long talks about laws, trade agreements and forign policy. His true love, however, was for adventure. And he thoght of Adventure in two places. The first was the past, specifically in the form of 17th and 18th century Pirates. His second source was Starfleet, and while he couldnt find a tall ship, he knew he could find a star to sail by in Starfleet.
Captain Sslarr - Your history contains a dark secret, and I'll be PMing you with it shortly. But, briefly, Sslarr grew up on one of the few Gorn colony worlds, and knows just how hardy you need to be to survive out there, especially for a species as soft as Humans are. He joined the Gorn Space Fleet out of a desire to leave the backwater world he grew up on, and to see something of the universe at large.
Is there any regulation prohibiting Dixon from wearing his cowboy hat while on duty?
Yep, sure is. right here -> # 102.34.556 "The wearing of any headgear not of a medical nature (including religious, fashion or other type) is strictly prohibited amongst bridge or other officers while on duty."
.. but I don't enforce it unless I am speaking with someone over the viewscreen ;)
Komar: Captain, incoming transmission from Ambassador Jonus.
Wraith: Put him on screen.
Ambassador Jonus (on screen): Greetings Captain. I look forward to meeting you in per...uh...excuse me, but what in the name of the nine celestials is that man wearing on his head?
Dixon: Oh dangit.
Wraith: Put him on screen.

And that's exactly why I included 'religion' as an unacceptable reason for wearing headgear on duty. Now, if you want to make an argument for medical reasons... :)
.. and I think it would go something more like this:
Komar: Captain, incoming transmission from Ambassador Jonus.
Wraith: Put him on screen, and Dixon - take off that archaic brainpan warmer.
Ambassador Jonus (on screen): Greetings Captain. I look forward to meeting you in person. And might I just say, as far as I am concerned, you are the best captain in Starfleet, with the strongest chin, [and so forth with the praise, promotions, and theme-park dedications]

And if it is a medical concern you are going to have to get it approved by me first. Now, if it was a nice pirate hat, well, that would certainly be different. Have I shown you my pirate jammies yet?
