Next Game

Post by cczernia »

After last game a couple of us were talking about the next game. I said I wanted something gritty. The idea here being that combat is so deadly you want to avoid it at all costs. Not just because a gun kills, but because if it doesn't the rusted needle and twine along with the infection will.

Of course character and plot are still at the front.

Some suggestions were:

Post Apocalyptic realistic game (no setting or powers)
Western (think Deadwood) possibly Boothill
Noir (an urban setting would be cool but I would rather focus on survival than mystery)

I was wondering what everyone else thought. Also, if we play a generic setting what do you think would be the best engine? My suggestions are:

GURPS
Silhouette
ORE (I remember this being deadly from Godlike complete with hit locations)

I think all of these would make for a gritty game. A player power point system would need to be incorporated for when the dice go bad.

my suggestions were sci-fi. star trek, transhuman space, or serenity would fit the bill nicely for me, but i'm easy. i'll go with whatever the mob wants.

yeah, and like cczernia, i'm up for grit.

I'll just have to make sure that every time you encounter an evil thing it is standing right next to a civilian.

Yeah... this video popped up in my office e-mail quite some time ago. That is what you get in your e-mail when you work on a military game.

Whenever I get confused about D&D alignment morality, I just imagine Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Ghandi arm wrestling shirtless on the back of a killer whale.

In other words, I remember that it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and deal with it best I can.
