D&D Next Playtest

Post by BlanchPrez »

Hey gang,

I'm still attempting to download the first packet for this, but I'm positive I will soon. In any event, I'm trying to get a group together for this.

The idea is that we will meet once a month to play through the playtest materials.

So far, my brother and my dad have both agreed to join in, and Andy has even said he'll host at his place.

So, that means I need three other players.

Anyone interested?

Were you ever able to download? I did all my sign-ups and everything, but the link they sent me after still just brings up the sign-up form... kinda annoying

I just got the playtest materials. I logged on to rpg-san diego just to find someone to try out 5e alpha with so I'd love to. Also my work hours just got reduced from six 12 hour days to 6 eight hour days so I have free time for gaming again.

Well, fantastic! That makes five players!

I was thinking we would start next Saturday.

I'll talk with Andy and see if that works for him for sure, and you guys can let me know if that works for you.

Then, we'll get some D&D Next on. :)

I just wanted to know if there would be an opportunity for one or more of the players to DM for an evening and let the DM have a chance to play. B2 was more a frame work to hang adventures off instead of an adventure in of itself anyway. I know I would love to run the playtest for an evening, perhaps try out the non-combat elements while negotiating with a tribal bigman or the lord of a surface world keep.

I don't know... that's a good question. I wasn't planning on being a PC, just the DM, but that doesn't mean we couldn't work something out, I suppose.

My plan was for us to meet once a month, so I'm not sure how much time that would give us to switch things around. We could always see what the rest of the group had to say.

I'm planning on doing my own one-shot (or similar) with one of my regular groups (probably the one of the ones playing 4th ed currently), so i'm fine for player status in this one.

Re: the next (first) meeting on the 2nd - is this going to be a daytime sort of thing or evening/night?

Okay, guys. Saturday, the 2nd, from 12 noon until about 8pm, and Andy's house.

Does anyone need directions to get there?

Hi everyone - sorry but I have to move back the start time from noon to 2pm. I have several errands to run in the morning, and won't get everything done by noon.

Sorry!

That works better for me since I might have work until 2 pm this Saturday. I asked for it off but... if I do have to work it'll only be an 8 hour shift

Got off work early today. What should I bring to the playtest (besides dice obviously)? Is there any part of the document I should print out?

The "How to Play" doc could be useful. I've got copies of all the character sheets, so no need for that. Otherwise, dice and yourself. :)

Okay, gang, it's been a while. What say we try to get a second game going for this. The Playtest 2 document is due to come out next month, and I'd like to get in at least one more game with the current rules before we get into that one.

What's a good date for people?
