When did we want to get together to make characters for the post apoc game? Right now I'm free this Friday (12th), 26th and July 3rd.
Winter, do you want to give us some idea of what you are thinking as far as background, mood, theme etc?
I was also wondering if we could have some mechanic where the players can set up scenes. I really liked this from PTA and would like to do it in other games. However, the GM would set up most scenes and each player can only set up one scene per session. Let me know what you think.

Liz and I will be in Campo on the 12th, let's aim for the 26th?
Theme can be safely pulled from most post-apocalyptic sources; Mad Max, Fallout, and Tank Girl are all along the right lines. Things will be set 40 or 50 years after things went to shit in the 2020s, unless anyone's playing an old guy they'll have vague childhood memories of the time before at best. Clean water, unspoiled food, and power are all in short supply, people or things that will kill you are not.
I'd prefer to see people seek out desired scenes in an In Character fashion rather than going round-robbin as we did in PTA, I'm certainly not opposed to liberal use of beer-bottling of appropriate settings, NPCs, etc.

Also, will there be mutant wierdness like in Fallout and Tank Girl. I wasn't thinking so much a round robin style as we each get a chance to set up one scene during the session. Normally, I would say something like my character is going to the chief's daughter.
With that the GM could say:
The daughter isn't there
You get jumped when you arrive
The chief won't let you see his daughter
etc
The player probably has a specific reason for visiting the character and instead of just telling the GM what his character wants to do the player sets up the exact scene he wants.
How the player set up the scene.
Karak and I go to visit the chief's daughter when she isn't around. This scene will allow us to talk to the daughter and possibly introduce some tension between myself and Karak as he hates the chief and is looking for ways to get back at him.
GM can take from there knowing exactly what the players wants in that scene. Players don't have to introduce scenes unless they want to. GM gets to set all other scenes.
Let me know what you think.

Mutant weirdness is absolutely appropriate, we're running around in a radioactive wasteland.
As for player scene creation, I'm not going to set any hard rules and am willing to keep an open mind. If anyone feels like pitching a scene please do so, the worst that can happen is I'll say no.

Hi Chris,
The plan is to get together next Friday (the 17th). If you have some sort of time travel device I'm down to play yesterday, and must absolutely commend your dedication to the hobby.

I still need to come up with a character. I have some ideas. What's the setting like? What kinds of characters do we have so far?

There's Conception (a tribal wilderness expert) and her sister (a medicine woman) from the Kern tribe, Trax (an ex-Petrochem whistleblower), Colin Grant (An ex-Petrochem security executive), and Gibson (The fixer/smuggler). The setting is generic post-apocalypse, anything from Mad Max to Fallout to Tank Girl is appropriate. The game is set in "The Field" (the remains of Bakersfield), and potential factions include (but aren't limited to) the Petrochem and ConAgra corporations, Tribals, Technologists, Mutants, Savages, Traders and The Corps (the remains of the military).
In the last game Gibson introduced the sisters to the ex-petrochem employees, the latter proposing an alliance to strike back at the company. After travelling to the Kern tribal village Head on Fire (tribal elder) requested the strangers prove their loyalty by accompanying Wind Through Grass (a village teen) to stop a a company employee destined for a nearby helicopter wreck. A brief showdown ended with Harlan Davis (petrochem mechanic) apprehended at the site and returned to the village.
Colin Grant presented a captured pistol to Head on Fire and on the promise of more weapons an alliance was formed. The plan is to capture a Petrochem tanker headed for Nevada.

During the last session, planning began for the attack on the Petrochem fuel convoy. Interrupting a discussion of the efficacy of flaming tumbleweeds, Nightsong warned of an impending company sweep on the Kern tribal village. Harlan, Trax and Colin Grant managed to avoid detection by hiding, while Job was caught attempting to lift ammunition off of the Security Squad leader Craig.
After not finding any evidence of their missing man Job was released and the squad continued in the direction of the relic helicopter. Conception, finding him at least slightly trusthworthy, released Harlan to stay amongst the tribe, and Gibson returned with a surplus anti-vehicle mine from Lucy the junk trader. A weakness in the tanker truck's cabin air filtration system was revealed and for a favor to be named later Gibson procured delivery cannisters of ricin gas and a gas mask from technologist Philip Magnavox.

During the previous session, the Petrochem convoy was successfully taken. The foremost buggy was dispatched with flour bombs, the tanker itself disabled by Job's application of sarin gas and some sharp-shooting by Trax, and the following truck destroyed by Conception's archery and crushed beneath on onslaught of rocks dropped by the Kern tribals. Unharmed and victorious, the group concealed the tanker further into the foothills and returned to the village.
Head on Fire sent Wind Through Grass into The Field to gauge Petrochem's reaction, while Gibson's trip to find a buyer was initially sidetracked by a run-in with slavers. One of the slaves, Susan, revealed herself to be a relative of Lucy, and once negotiations broke down the slaver was shot. Susan, Jebediah, and Mole were escorted to Lucy's shop in the Bazaar, and invited to ally with the Kern people's struggle against Petrochem. Lucy, thrilled to have Susan back, agreed to find a buyer for the tanker's contents.
