I'm willing to bet he's in trouble for not requesting to do this with his own chain of command. The military is real big on the chain of command, and officers HATE being out of the loop. As for politicians....well, they're just useless anyway.

That is kind of what I figured when I read this article.



I also wondered if it also wasn't one of those things like keeping internal problems internal.

The real interesting thing is that body armor has been a political touch point lately...

Yup, and no one can set aside politics.

Lets say the armor drive had been successful. Then the news could have been so politically spun as, "Army needs help to arm its troops"

Its also acknowledging there is a problem.
