Welcome to the boards! Best of luck finding players -- sounds like a good game. I'd be interested if I were in the area and had enough time to devote to it.

Oh... I was hoping it was a Spirit of the Century reference....

Where do you play?

Where will this take place, and what are the regular days of gaming?

Just city location, not specifics yet, and will you be meeting weekly, or some other schedule?

Location:
  • Varies: RB and UTC currently if there are other venues they can be added. I would encourage rotation.
Schedule:
  • Weekly is the schedule
  • Friday Evening 7ish-1am (or as the group wants to do) is the ideal nite but that can also be negotiated.

Just curious, but what exactly is "geek drama"?

It's like regular drama, but with a calculator.

Geek Drama = Bickering who got the spotlight in a session. Holding a grudge in session and taking it with you into the next 6 sessions and letting spill out into the game instead of dealing with it appropriately. errmm a good example is DM Envy.

DM Envy in a Shared game world (risky but oh well)... DM 1 says DM 2 I need some time to prep for the campaign; run the pcs for a one shot... DM 2 says ok heres the one shot it will be an intro to another part of the world removed from the current campaign areas; here is the new area heres all the info you need to bring em out of the oneshot all MI will rewarded will be subject to DM approval but in line with DMG rule set ...

One shot lasts 4 sessions each sessison asking if DM 1 is ready? DM 1 says no its ok...

DM 2 runs the 4 session (4 sessions cause everyone enjoys wandering down tangents about how cool Heroes NBC was this week etc etc that kinda slow) oneshot everyone is apparently happy with the run and then returns to PC duty...

DM 1 runs his campaign doing everything he can to one up the one shot and bag on the PC of DM 2 either directly or indirectly by bagging on the other PC's via the rewards given in the oneshot...

DM 1 then begins playing the campaign to alienate DM 2's PC and includes thinly veiled insults to aggravate DM 2. DM 2 doesn't care but points out DM 1 strange behavior and lack of understanding of the mechanics and asks for ruling. DM 1 has a meltdown. This is DM envy.

Geek Drama also tends to eternally have a passive aggressive slant to it... Hiding be hind quips or intellectual statements or side comments without committing to their point of argument or issue. Thereby allowing themselves to vent but not really be heard and making culpable deniability possible (I didn't mean it like that even tho they very much did)

I think that sums it up.

From my experience, nerds and passive/aggressive go hand in hand.

My biggest problem is with new players who come for one session and then say they had fun and then suddenly don't answer their email or phone anymore. If you didn't like it, just say so!

This reminds me, I need to run some disclaimers for my game, e.g. no drama, no weirdos, no whores, etc.

I'm looking for a few more, too, but it's a low-level game (the DM is starting at 1st level).

High level sounds interesting, though.

Out of curiosity, how high is "high level"? Are we talking 8, or 18? or 80?

We are going with low level to start new players after reviewing the current campaign model.

Since, I live in the area, I would be interested. Can you give an example of the kind of games you run. I am not a huge fan of D20, but I will play it happily if the game is interesting. Do you have anything specific in mind for the game?
Whenever I get confused about D&D alignment morality, I just imagine Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Ghandi arm wrestling shirtless on the back of a killer whale.

In other words, I remember that it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and deal with it best I can.

Hey, cool. Not that I know what any of those location acronyms mean except "University of California, San Diego." I like geography!
Just in case anyone wants to watch me run something.

I'll have you know I've been doing this since I was six.

It is an area just north of the Highway 52 and east of the I-5.
