Bonfire?

Post by Sven »

I was a little confused by the "bonfire cancelled.." thread. My understanding that there will be a Bonfire on the 12th (I am assuming at Fiesta Island). Or are we really pumped up and excited about cancelling the bonfire on the 12th?

'Tis an old thread, recently resurrected. So yes, we're actually HAVING a bonfire on the 12th, not cancelling.

Good question. Although they're usually at Fiesta Island. Weren't you at one or the other of the ones we've had? My guess is we'd just be going there.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Fiesta Island sounds good to me!

Fiesta Island is pretty easy to find.

a) Take the 5 to Sea World Dr. exit.

b) Go west on Sea World drive, but only for a little bit, because almost immediately after getting off the freeway you'll be turning north onto E. Mission Bay Dr.

c) And you'll only go for a very short bit on E. Mission Bay. You'll wanna take a left onto Fiesta Island Rd. There are lots of signs pointing the way too.

d) Drive around Fiesta Island (it's a big loop) until you see Winter and Neuro's pirate flag.

If you're visual and those directions don't make sense, go to Google Maps and type in "fiesta island rd. san diego, ca"

Note that there is a split in the loop. If you don't see us on your first time around the loop go around again and take the opposite way.

So just to confirm. Saturday, Aug 12th at 6:00 pm?

So, I don't think this was answered, but, what should we bring? Beer in non-glass containers, I assume. What about food? Is there going to be BBQ arrangements available? Or should I just bring a stick and some hot dogs and marshmellows?

I was about to ask the same thing. Is there anything I should bring other than myself and something to drink.

I have a portable grill that I'll bring. I'm also bringing hot dogs, buns, condiments, and beer.

I'll up 'em tonight, I think macro mode accidentally got left set on the camera so I need to clean 'em up in post.

Had a blast, guys, thanks for showing up!! Sorry if anybody else got showered in embers. I'd never actually seen a can do that before... but it was pretty cool!

Yes, the exploding can. Witness the invulnerability powers of Gotetsu. I sat not five feet from the fire and not a cinder touched me, though I was surrounded by them.

You shoulda pulled up a chair, or even some sand, and rested a bit. :)

I hurt it a bit when I went over the hill to use that bathroom. I needed to ice it.

Anyone up for an impromptu bonfire this weekend? I feel the need to be outdoors. So, it's either that or go camping.
