Character Scratchpad

Post by SpaceMonkey »

So I'm thinking either a Troll (or maybe jungle elf?) pirate of some kind, or a holy man (cleric/paladin/crusader type) with some invocation magic. The latter probably would be a human, but I haven't really nailed that down as of yet.

How bout you boys?

There are many good choices... I was originally thinking Satyr, but now I'm thinking Fae.

I'm getting quite excited by this. I love this world.

What I love is having literally no idea what this game will be like at this point.

Well that's the wonderful thing about SotC based games, right? It all springs from the chargen phases!

Just as a point of clarification, you can safely think of the satyrs as Native American Indians. So while there are hunters in abundance, actual "nobility" might be a little harder to swing (apart from the nobility of the noble savage, of course, who cries in one-tear increments).

Now I think it may be fun to play a nobleman from Brightmar.

I'm thinking a young noble who is going or recently graduated from a military academy like West Point and thinks he is hot shit and needs to brought down a couple pegs to reality.

My concept is a carousing knight from a good family in Brightmar. Brawny guy who's good with the sword and the ladies (he thinks).

Possible Aspect - "Let's visit yonder inn, hence to sample the ale and the wenches!"

From what I've read so far, I'm thinking of playing a Lowland Dwarf Artificer, or a young noble who is going or recently graduated from a military academy like West Point and thinks he is hot shit and needs to brought down a couple pegs to reality. That may change as I read on. This is a great setting BTW.

Perhaps one with a steam-powered crossbow and a suit of retractable armor?

This is a familiar concept, but a good one.

Now I'm kinda thinking of a 'trying very hard to be civilized' troll writer. He needs some adventure and excitement so he'll have something to write about. -- might fit a little better with the current mix of potential characters. Former scrivener, possibly raised by human godparents in Brightmar or something.

I half expect to read that Chris was playing a princess. Since that is still up for grabs....
Whenever I get confused about D&D alignment morality, I just imagine Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Ghandi arm wrestling shirtless on the back of a killer whale.

In other words, I remember that it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and deal with it best I can.

I'm not counting him out just yet. There's still time for him to swap out military academy for princess academy.

Heya fellas -- could you post your full character sheets in this (or a new) thread? You don't have to include your phases, I guess, but it'd be good.

It'd be good to have them all in one place to reference, not to mention a convenient backup in case of a forgotten sheet or a missing player.

Thanks!

No problem. I'd just like to have 'em before Friday.

Oh, also -- Nat wants me to make a character for him. Anyone have any ideas? And don't say "Old man." I don't want to typecast him.

We don't have any dwarves. I considered an artificer dwarf, but it was to close to my sundered skies character. It's be cool to see this settings version of that though. Also, did I get my sheet back from you after you copied the aspects down, because if not, shit! I did find a picture though.

Nat's character - We don't have a Fae. Or a Malloran. Or a free-city dwarf. Those would all be great characters.

Yeah, I was thinking of a dwarf artificer myself, actually. He'd be significantly less... er... "power-armored" than your Sundered Skies character. I have some new rules of Artifice that make use of story aspects so you can't just make infinite items in between adventures, and I'm curious to see how they'd work.

I don't seem to have it, but it's probably at Andy's.
