Trinity - Aeon

Post by cczernia »

Since I can't play I want... no I demand details.

Also, if we are playing Aeon on Monday I was wondering what everyone else was playing so I can make a character before the game.

Would it be better to make a character that belongs to the same organization as one of the other PCs or make one from left field.

My left field choice: I downloaded the Asia Ascendent unpublished supplement a couple weeks back and the cyber agents of the Nihonjin look pretty fun. Otherwise I was thinking of playing someones rival or lacky.

The impression I got is that the default for PCs is that psychics are taught by their order but then they join up with Aeon Trinity. Also, nothing preventing you from playing an Ascendent and rival/lacky.

I am back from camping. Apparently things are happening tonight.

For those making characters, has anyone informed you there are 18 xp you can spend in addition to baseline chargen?

Same or different org - no issues there. Generally there is a good bit of overlap, depending on missions.

Not too familiar with Asia Ascendant, but i did a quick skim. I don't see anything listing as a 'cyber agent' - but i assume you mean a Superior or Neutral with a bunch of cyber enhancements (since they don't really have Psi folks there). That's a possibility if you want to play it, but you would need to overcome some hurdles [extremely rare outside of Nihon, have to be a traitor or a spy basically, rival nations will want to cut you open, etc. as well as figure out how you could fit with the group].

I think it is more that Aeon/Trinity works with the orders (nebulous as to exact nature of hierarchy), but that most psions work directly for an order, not for Aeon itself (though it does have a number of psions working for it, just not as many as the Orders do). There are also many psions working for an order that have loyalties (split; additional; etc) to Aeon, sometimes conflicting with their loyalty to their Order.

The vast majority of Psions get their marching orders from their Order. These may be influenced by Aeon (whether the psion knows it or not). They may sometimes get a direct request from Aeon, and depending on the request and how they feel about it they may proceed or consult their Proxy or whatever.

that was my read after going through the book anyway.

I think you meant 'week' not 'weekend' as in - tonight. And yes, we don't seem to have a playable size group for this evening. Also venue. John and i were thinking about doing some board games up in San Marcos though..

Yes, I meant week.

Also, I was wondering if we could play on this Monday since everyone is likely to have it off?

I wanted to post my suspicions about the mission:
Special Agent Arctor is worried that one of the lost submarines might be a Chinese research sub doing illegal experiments related to Aberrant science and I'm worried that recovering it might expose the Psi associates to a classified secret project that Aeon wouldn't want exposed. He's heard rumors about Chinese submersible science vessels being used to conduct illegal black book research before, so the possibly that they might have lost one to pirates or worse isn't unthinkable. The political fallout from such discoveries, however is.

The mission does not mention anything specifically about the Chinese.

There were rumors a number of Chinese subs had been taken from a submersible shipyard that had been raided by parties unknown. The Chinese government would not admit to such a thing, at this point it is just something that was heard being talked about on less than official channels. The communications burst the group intercepted seemed to be using an older chinese encryption algorithm as well.
