Trinity - Adventure!

Post by cczernia »

Ok, I thought I'd post here to get us talking about Adventure! This week I think Andy will be doing Panty Explosion and we'll start A! next week.

I'm kind of curious what everyone wants to make and what kind of game is this going to focus on?

I'll be GMing so I don't have character ideas, but here are some ideas for props, settings, villains and plot hooks that are evocative of pulp, and might be fun to add in there:

* Shadowy organization of evil
* Egyptian pyramids or other ancient ruins
* archeological digs
* bi-planes
* old European castles or manors filled with secret passage ways
* crazy scientists
* rescuing the damsel in distress
* preventing the end of the world
* ocean liners
* blimps or Zeppelins
* jungles
* safari hunts
* Evil Chinese wizard
* abominable snowman/yeti/Sasquatch
* secret Oriental arts of assassination

Leo Goldstein grew up in a typical Jewish family. His father was a lawyer and made sure his children got the best education. Leo’s older brother, Steven, disappeared while fighting in the Great War. Rumors of soldiers manifesting strange abilities during the war and possibly responsible for Steven’s disappearance stuck with Leo.

Leo ended up going to Princeton and studying to become a doctor when he met Dr. Sergei Polski who had been studying a theoretical new force called Telluric Energy. The Telluric Energy seemed to cause many of the same qualities as the strange abilities affecting soldiers during the war. Leo changed his studies to work with Dr. Polski.

On the day Leo graduated with his doctorate he also proposed to Dr. Polski’s daughter, Anna. He continued to work with Dr. Polski and Leo discovered that he was gaining the abilities he was studying in others. This was a strange occurrence as Telluric Energy seemed to manifest in people at random. One of Leo’s knacks was that he could understand Telluric Energy better quickly surpassing and alienating the other scientists.
As much as his abilities were a gift they were also a curse. He started fighting with Dr. Polski and became obsessed with his research working 30+ hours until he eventually passed out.

One night returning home Leo discovered another new ability as he could hear his wife having sex with another man from outside their house. Leo snuck in , grabbed some stuff and immersed himself in his work and started drinking heavily.

Kicker – Dr. Polski has told him to pull his act together or he is gone. Anna told Leo she is pregnant. A german physicist, Albrecht Eberstark has asked Leo to come work for him for double pay and a chance to find the missing link to Telluric Energy.

Reginald Colton Meriweather was born into a wealthy British family in Calcutta. Both parents from prominent East India Trading Company families. Reginald led a life of leisure spending his family's wealth on parties, travel, women, and Extravagant clothing.

His life took a drastic change on a tiger hunt with his father in the Uttar Pradesh jungle. Reggie was separated from the hunting group, and lost. After a week, half starved and sick from Malaria, he wandered into a isolated village and collapsed. Reginald was restored to health by the villagers, under the direction of their Guru, a man with amazing mental powers. Wen he was well enough to speak, Reginald asked the Guru how he came by these amazing abilities.

The Guru confided in Reginald, showing him the path to enlightenment. It would take decades of meditation, deprivation, reflection of the soul. Only then would he be worthy to visit the cave of the ancestors and learn their secrets. Reginald tried this for many hours before deciding that this was ridiculous, and headed to the cave that night.

Reginald we subjected to a flood of Telluric energy upon entering the cave. The experience was harrowing, but he emerged with the psychic ability he desired.

The Guru was waiting outside the cave, and told Reginald that the power he took from the cave would only bring him sorrow,and then departed.

Reginald returned to Calcutta. His family threw him a celebration, but cheer he felt at this reunion was short lived. Through his new power, he quickly learned what his family thought of him. His father despised him as a stain on the family's honor. His siblings saw him as a useless drain on the family fortune. These were kind thoughts compared to how he was seen by the household staff.

Reginald left the estate soon after, and cut his ties with his family. He has since begun to use his abilities as a stage magician and mesmerism, and has become a success, with a small fortune of his own. Reginald has taken up with the doctor as a means to better understand his power, and find a quick, easy route to the kind of power he saw in the village back in the Indian jungle.
