Weekly Game 3: Revenge of the Schedule
Weekly Game 3: Revenge of the Schedule
So, last night after much discussion, we decided that the GURPS campaign is being scrapped. In it's place I will be picking up Dragonstar for a while. I have 4 or 5 episodes ready to be fleshed out. After that, we'll probably go back to GURPS, but in a more traditional fantasy vein.
So, tomorrow is Stargate SG-4, and next week begins the Dragonstar saga anew. Last chance. Anyone wanna change alter their character? I will allow one "respec" before game resumes.

Do you have my character? Because I don't, and I can't remember what I had (besides a Pershallan <SP?> pilot).

I have all of the characters. I'll bring them all tomorrow. Of course, YOUR character's background is on the website.

I've got some bad news. My car sufferred catastrophic failures tonight. tomorrow I'll know whether I'll be in hock up to my eyeballs to fix it or if the damage is so extensive that I'm better off selling it to Ecology. If anyone knows somebody mechanicly inclined who has the resources to repair a vehicle with a currently unknown amount of damage, I will probably jump at the chance to sell it...
Lacking transportation, or anyone from east county to carpool with, I will be unable to attend any gaming for the forseeable future:(

That sucks, DS. I know what it's like to be without a car.
I'll be there tomorrow.

But I noticed that by taking away the Critical Hit mechanic, it kind of stole some thunder out of rolling a natural 20, which has always been a cornerstone mechanic of d20. So, I added this rule to the chart. let me know what you think.
When a natural 20 is rolled, roll to hit again to confirm. If the second roll is a hit, you have scored a Critical Hit.
To apply the Critical hit to the hit location, subtract the Target's AC from your second roll and add the result to your first roll, thus creating a new hit location.
Example: The Target's AC is 16. You roll a natural 20, with a bonus of +2, for a total of 22. This an upper torso hit.
Make another roll to confirm a critical hit. You roll a 17, plus your +2, making it a 19.
Subctract the AC of 16 from your 19, and add the result of 3 to your first roll of 22, making it a 25. This is now a head shot.

As an Alternative, since math is not our friend, you could have an across the board rule that if you confirm a critical hit you move up one level in the wound chart (For the case of head either do x5 damage or just plain blew their brains out).
Oh, sure. Take the easy way out!

In answer to Wintermute's earlier question, I drive a 1988 Firebird TransAm (with T-Tops).
In a suprising twist of fate however the problem was not as catastrophic as I was expecting. It did require me to push the vehicle uphill about a quarter mile (not a big deal... when I was 10 years younger, these days that was a little more exercise than I was prepared for), and shell out 142 bucks (that could have otherwise been spent on gaming related goods and services... ). It turns out all that happened was I ruptured a high pressure fuel line (that is no longer made, so a replacement had to be custom fabricated). My big worry was that I had also blown a head gasket, because I seemed to be leaking watery oil. as it turns out, that was merely the oil caked on to the side of the engine block that had been washed away by the gasoline, making it seem "watery".
I am quite fortunate in another regard considering this however, because the gasoline was also being spewed over my alternator. I am fortunate not to have made the Monday Night news under a "Burning Car on the Southbound 805" headline.
But aside form being 142 bucks poorer, and still kinda sorefrom the push, all is well again... for now....

yes, It could have been much worse.
I should also point out that Scot Holmberg, Owner of Holmberg Automotive went out of his way to help me out in a few ways with this. It's a good shop, located just east of Applebee's at Balboa and the 805.
So which game is next week again?

I am restarting my old Dragonstar game, for which you do not currently have a character. So, we can remedy that at the game. The adventure I have in mind is pretty straight forward, and may not run all night. So, there shouldn't be a problem making a character during the session time.
Glad to hear your car wasn't as bad as all that. I used to drive an 88 Trans Am (with T-Tops), and although I loved it, it just wasn't condusive to my budget. So, I can understand yer pain. :)

Come to think of it, there is an open spot on the party. Foxbat's race-ship pilot is going to be written out of the series for the time being. Just an FYI, Darque, I am limiting the character creation to what can be found in the DS books, all of which I posess.

I'll be there. Unless we hear otherwise from Infernus, it's SOE, and it's probably around 7.
Me (and I assume Cthulhu), Chris and Rock? That's it? Ya'll better have alternate games ready.
I would hope Infernus is also in the mix, unless we're planning on gaming in the SOE parking lot:)

This quote represents something I'd love to be able to do: Sit down at my desk for 5 frickin minutes without someone coming over to ask me something or email coming in that needs my attention. As you can see, that time becomes available at 5:45 PM, roughly 15 minutes before I am planning to leave for the evening.

Nope. Didn't you get the memo? It's your job to make sure we're all showing up to game nights. :)
Okay, I'll start this time. It's Stargate tonight! I'll be there.
