Another Religous Right Guy is Gay
I just love when this happens
This guys is one of those crazy, hardcore right wing guys. He has one of those 14,000 member mega churchs in Colorado.

Whenever I get confused about D&D alignment morality, I just imagine Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Ghandi arm wrestling shirtless on the back of a killer whale.
In other words, I remember that it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and deal with it best I can.

No shit... I just love the fact that he was trying to pass some insane anti-gay amendment and was the pillar of the community. and he is having fantasies about orgies with college men while high on meth. It is just great. It is always these kinds of guys that are the biggest freaks.

But, see, that's why they want to pass that kind of legistation. They think that everyone things just like they do.
Worse invention=religion
I hear that arguement often, but I disagree. The problem with religion is when it becomes absolutism and fundimentalism. Our real problems in this world aren't from religion but extremism and fundimentalism. North Korea is secular and it is a brutal regime.

I just tired of hearing of people who use religion to justify actions. I mean, the Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, terrorism, middle east unrest, all of it was/is because of religion and the sides that people take.
I'm gonna move to Mars... Martians don't have a religion, just huge obelisks...

As am I, but it doesn't have to be religion. People will make any philosophy justify what they want to do. Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they are the Children of God." Yet, some of the most vocal proponents of the war in Iraq are fundimentalist Christians. Along with they, more of their children join the military. To top it all off, they use the Bible to justify it. It is easy to just say, "Religion is bad." But then we really loose what a lot of those religions are all about, namely being good.

You know, I shouldn't group all religions as bad. I don't have an issue with Buddhists, and I've not heard about any hindus using cows as bombs...
I think it is religion, plus people who have nothing to life for. A friend of mine was saying that recently. He said that Joe Average over in the middle east is poor and really all they have is their religion. And to make your life better, all you have to do is kill enemies of Islam, you can go to a place with good schwag and virgins, it is no wonder there are people lining up to die.
The clerics over there have it great. Fatwa the pope, fatwa the evil cartoonists, fatwa America.

I agree with Count Zero on this one. If there were no relegion in the world, the fundimentalists would just come up with something else to use as justification.
The reality is that what you are talking about is just that... justification. It's not religion, its these people needing to justifiy the horrible acts they are doing, and making themselves look like the good guys at the same time. In this country, we have a lot of Patriots that use that as justification. Its no different. Extremists and fundimentalists exist and will exist, no matter what they use to rationalize themselves.

It doesn't take poverty to become like that. Look at it here in the U.S. You have Pat Robertson calling for the assasination of another leader. You have the number of threats against and "suspicious packages with strange powders" sent to abortion clinics has gone from an average of 291 per year to over 700. In the 90's there were bombings against the clinics. Also, you add on the crazies burning Koran's at a religious gathering. It is all kind of sad.

I feel sort of sad for him. He probably really believes all that stuff and probably thinks he's horrible and evil. Poor guy probably just wants the cawk and he's probably so deeply indoctrinated that he's miserable about wanting the cawk. And hey, if you're already hip deep in sin, why not have some meth, get a rush, get out of your daily misery. He probably lives every day with some godawful self loathing. No wonder he's an asshole and a liar. He's probably driven himself to it.

I have sympathy for him as a person who refuses to be who he actually is out of fear. My sympathy ends there.
The problem is he won't wake up, he will just procide on a path of self-destruction and abuse people along the way. Most likely, he won't listen to reason or do any self-introspection. Not only that, but he encourages 30 million other people to hate and discriminate. I hope he finds a healthy path, but if he continues the way he is.. then to hell with him. He brings the pain on himself. He hates people for who they are... he is a bigot. I have no sympathy for that. There is no excuse for bigotry.
I could at least respect and accept him if he simply said he realized what he was teaching was wrong. He doesn't have to become a flaming queen to gain my respect, just realize he was wrong. That probably won't happen. He will become the poster boy for "gay to straight conversion" and it will cause more pain to people just trying to lead happy lives.
I pity the man.. just like I pity most of those people.

I'm much more simplistic in my wishes for the man. I just want him to have a stroke-inducing OD while getting pounded by a big gay dude named Lance.
I don't believe in the"reformed bigot" concept. This guy was going to keep preaching hate and dreaming of men until he got caught. The only thing that's happened is he was exposed for his blatant hypocrisy. Now another fellow who loves some man-meat but hates gays will step up to the plate and keep the hate talk coming. I don't think this guy will change and I have no pity for people who try to lead others with inflaming hate speech. The best thing this guy could have done with his life is end it with a bullet.

Wow! For a second I thought he was joining Jay Baker's (One Punk under God) Church, but alas he's going to Pheonix to join the "Assembly of God."
I do admire that he's keeping his marriage and kids together, and not doing the divorce thing. I think that the Christian sanctity of marriage is threatened more by divorce than by (my) same sex marriage.

I doubt they think that though. That wing of christianity stopped talking about divorce when they realized the population they were preaching to had the highest divorce rates in the country.

In this case cheating, hookers, and drugs are the threat to the marriage and a pretty credible one. Divorce wouldn't be the first thing I'd consider. Burying the motherfucker under a nice, new pool would be the first thing on my mind. I'm not sure what it does to the partner who is not a fuckup and their kids to stay in a marriage where this has been the case. "Kids, Daddy fucked a hooker and does meth, pack your stuff," seems pretty reasonable and possibly safer to me.
