Best Game of 2010

Post by cczernia »

Just wondering what everyone's best game of the year is? This can best game you played, best game you bought, best game you thought came out or all of the above.

Best game played had to be Colony. A game where the players are the first colonists of a sleeper ship to a new world.

Best purchase and new game has to be Dresden Files. The books a beautiful and dripping with flavor. A gaming book hasn't gotten me into a world since Buffy.

What is your favorites?

wow...hard one

My best purchase was probably Machine Tractor Station Kharkov 37
but that might more than a year ago, if so then I go with Fiasco with SoTC in second
Fiasco would be the best game to come out this year

best game I played in was probably MTSK-37 or 1884 - Steampunk Dystopia

Agreed, Fiasco is a great game. I had a lot of fun playing it. What was MTSK-37?

for games which i've completed playing in '10, i enjoyed colony, machine tractor station kharkov 37, and a mini campaign of star wars. i'm currently halfway through a campaign and having a good time with dark sun.

as for best buy, i'd say dark sun campaign setting hands down. although a good read, ganakagok would be in that short list of best '10 purchases, but i've yet to play it, so i'll reserve my final verdict.

Well, I bought several computer games but no pen and paper games this year. My two favorite for this year are Mass Effect 2 and Fallout New Vegas.

Best Game Purchases: Legend of the Five Rings, 4th ed. So good lookin', so almost-entirely well-edited AND Delta Green: Eyes Only. A few years old, not quite out of print and full of sullen, pre-millenial, pre-9/11 angst.

Best Game Acquisition: a new player for my campaigns, once he exits infancy.

Best Game/Chunk of Campaign: The Fall of Solan/A Cure for Leaf's Edge by dnd3e. In Eberron, of all places!

Best Gamers: The lads and ladies of RPG-sandiego.org

Best Game:

Best game I got this year was the Dark Sun Campaign Guide. A cool setting, well designed and very playable.

Honorable mention:

World of Darkness Mirrors. Dripping with ideas to hack up and costumize the World of Darkness setting.

Best game I played in:

The Geist game played at Strategicon. We took over one of the penthouse rooms overlooking the airport and played late into the night.
