Legend of the Five Rings

Post by Sadohara »

Here's an open call for a new group of tabletop players for the
Legend of the Five Rings RPG.

What is Legend of the Five Rings?

It is a excellent fantasy samurai roleplaying game set in the Emerald
Empire, Rokugan. Published by Alderac Entertainment, the game is in
its 10th year and 3rd and finest edition. It is a game of character,
of high drama, of cinematic action, and the Way of the Warrior. As it
is said: Rokugan, a land where honor is a force stronger than steel.

C'mon. That's a big sell. What makes this different than your
average fantasy d20 game?

It's a game of character and skill, not a game of gear and hit points.
endurance. It's a lot less anime and a lot more Kurosawa. It's a
chance to explore a new world, a new game, and a new character.
It is a game where the story matters more than arcane rules interpretations.

Fair enough. I'm intrigued. What are you looking for, exactly?

4 players, or 5 in a pinch. Mature players who are willing to play
outside what they normally do, to try something different. That
doesn't mean experienced players. If you've roleplayed twice or have
been doing it for 20 years, it doesn't matter, that's fine. Familiarity
with Legend of the Five Rings is irrelevant - in many ways, it is better
that you don't know the game or the rules.

Hmmmm. Alright, when and where?

I'd like to get started in late September, at a date, time and location
to be decided on by those involved. Please note the location is likely
to be in the UTC/Carmel Valley/La Jolla area.

How can I contact you?

You can reply to this message or email me at aaronwells1 @ gmail . com

Okay. And one last question... are you a freak?

No. To the best of my knowledge, I am not a freak.

Any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact
me at the email address listed above.

Thanks for your time and interest.

Kurosawa fan says, "I'll give it a go, on the weekends."

I have been waiting for the GURPS Fairy Godmother to wave a magic wand, and cause a GURPS group to sprout up, But it hasn't happened yet. I grew up in the SF Bay area, ( San Leandro ) and several times I made the pilgrimage (BART) to Japan Town in SF. I even saw a couple of subtitled Kurosawa films there. I'm available weekends, and since I haven't a clue to the system your'e running this on, I could come down to "Game Empire" sometime for tutoring. I am moderately familiar with the UTC/La Jolla area, but "Game Empire" is a nuetral setting, in case I'm to "gaijin" for your group. From Mad Douglas ( Mongo )

Mongo,

Thanks for your post. Tragically, it looks like we're settling in to a game on Wednesday evening, rather than the weekend.

Either way, thanks for the interest.

Why am I the only good kid, who stays home on a school night? It's not fair! Waaaa! No really, it's cool. Look me up for other RPG stuff that is weekend oriented. ORIENTed, get it? Ha Ha. From Mad Douglas (Mongo)
