I wanted to bring up Gamer's Torch again, not for discussion of business methods or the ins and outs of game shop mgmt, but to highlight the 35% discount on special orders (Nov 20 post) and the note of alarm in the Dec 9 post. Thanks. I've certainly been taking advantage of the special order having...

I really enjoyed Spirit of the Season the time I played it. I also think Doctor Who Christmas Special would be fun. The Mouse Guard themed game would be cool except I'm not a fan of Mouse Guard. Post Apoc Christmas would be fun, too. You could get some great imagery (barf forth Christmas apocalypta)...

I have not played it. So if someone is jonesing to run it, I'm in. As for me running it. Yeah no dice. Me and new games don't mix well lately. My attempt at Nox was noxious and my Serenity one shot at Hyphen Con was not that great at 3am. So I'm kinda having an aversion to it. I enjoyed Nox and the...

Here is the new Dark Sun thread! Ohhh shiny. First game should be in two weeks. Next week we can talk characters, indie game madness and maybe some Dominion.
Hrm. Yeah, I'd have to think about that. I'm not sure I can come up with universally applicable guidelines for Setpieces. Right now, obviously, the rules lean pretty heavily on the creativity of the players to fill in the gaps. I don't want to constrain overmuch, but I don't want ...

I think the most difficult part of the game for us was starting the first seen. None of us really knew what to do or how to start actually playing once all the setup was done. Like you have the denouement you might want to have a special opening scene that gets things starts. As for dicepools I thin...

Gamma World - mood?
So, I there apparently was an issue during the Q&A on Gamma World about why the new edition is super silly and not serious like previous editions. But I always thought Gamma World was suppose to be a goofy game.
So, how do you guys view Gamma World? Is it post-apoc Gonzo or radioactively serious?
However, keeping players in the dark is hard (occasionally mean), quality revelations require more build up time than the average campaign allows before dying and moving on to something else, and some players actually get pissed if the revelation isn't well fore-shadowed.
Smallville does a good job of this, IMO. Your relationships with other PCs are created organically during chargen and rated in dice. By complete coincidence (seriously), Leftovers works similarly.
I really like the idea of relationships (PCs or NPCs) as mecha...
