The fundamental purpose of small arms projectiles is to first penetrate any armor and second destroying equipment and disabling personnel. If we limit our discussion to solid projectiles then the mechanics of armor penetration and equipment destruction are the same. This anti-material mechanic is us...

Mission: I agree that such armor does mesh well with the concept of operations commonly employed by special operations. Lack of stealth and greater logistical requirements do not fit well with their tactics and strategy. I see such armor used in the role of heavy infantry assault. The fighting in Fa...

[quote="Myrya"]But what could you load on a human sized power armor? I think the best bet would be something like a Landmate from Appleseed, or a mech from Gasraki. Small enough to not be a walking target, large enough to mount vehicular weapons and not be KD'd by recoil or have them overbalance th...

Given the current state of warfare I think man-size or slightly larger exoskeletons are the most practical and technically feasible form of anthropromorphic combat vehicles. There isn't that much gain transitioning from current light AFV's to even something on the Heavy Gear scale when all the facto...

It looks like Square has come a long way since FF:Spirits Within. The human animation is quite a bit more natural and fluid. Overall its just stunning.

[quote="J@ke"]I saw this thing on PBS about the original space program and how we chose the most inefficient, but quickest way to reach the moon possible. It all steamed from the cold war/space race. Stargate Atlantis
So I'm watching maybe my 3rd or 4th episode of Atlantis and I'm wondering if anyone else finds it particularly cheesy? It all seems a bit too clean and simple for my tastes. Did SciFi clone Stargate SG1 but miss out on the subtle details?
