Hex Graph Paper

I think I can do $15.00 for that, with the shipping of course. I'll go through E-bay, so you can send me an invoice after I "make an offer" there. I am "mongogrunt" there, so shouldn't be too hard to mix up who I am.

Armoury Hex/Graph paper

I checked out your E-bay store, and thought the Armoury Hexagonal/Square graph paper pad could come in handy. I was a little set back by the price though.

I have been using a graph paper generator program, but thought a pad already made would be useful. Is this product rare, or was it expensive to start with?

Crap, he was right!

:smash:It pains me to say this, but it looks like that guy was right about something, that we've been doing wrong all this time.

Do you remember when we "argued" about the range penalties for Regular Spells? I've found evidence, to support his side of the issue, under "Malediction" in the Basic Book, page 106. It reads "If it takes -1 per yard of range, like a Regular spell, it costs +100%. If it uses the range penalties on the Size and Speed Range Table (p.550), it costs +150%." So the default is -1 per 1 yard, and the other table is an additional level of enhancement.

That means that the "-5 at 5 yds" example in the GURPS Magic book, is just a coincidence, that it matches the same rating of the Size and Speed/Range Table, that 5yds happens to be.

Now that rediculously high skill level, with that one spell, makes sense, and doesn't seem like an attempt to unbalance the game. A trained archer still has a much better chance to hit him with an arrow, at 20 yds, than he would have to use his spell on that same archer though. Then if you think of several archers, versus his one spell per second, there would be sleeping archers, but a dead mage as well.

So despite being irritating, in his "air of superiority", the guy was right, and I/We were wrong. That's reason enough for me, not to have him back. I don't like being wrong, or having new people argue with me, after only being in the room, for ten minutes.

What kind of characters do you want to play, in a fantasy setting? Do you have GURPS Magic, and do either of you want to be spellcasters?

It looks like I'll be running the campaign Saturday night, and the current group has a "holy man", a "rogue", a "druid", and a plain old "fighter" type. They had a "mage/healer", and a Dwarven "artificer", but one has too much school work, and the other just up and vanished.

I can make the characters for you, or you can look through the "leftovers", and then spend some time customizing them, to get them up to the group's point total.

One of the players is going shopping for a slave, so there is also that route, to get you in with the rest of them. Don't worry though, he plans on freeing the slave, and "hiring" him to help the group. It's the "holy man" that is looking for help, and I already have five suitable candidates for him to choose from.

P.S. GURPS 4th Ed. Banestorm is essentially an updated version of the GURPS 3rd Ed. Fantasy book, as far as the world geography, and history is concerned. GURPS 4th Ed. Fantasy has different templates for the "fantasy" races, and very few of them to choose from. GURPS 4th Ed. Fantasy is more of a tool kit book, for designing your own fantasy setting, plus their "Elves & Dwarves" are different from Banestorm's material.

Let me know how you want to proceed. If you just want to "check out" the group, then the premade characters might be the best way to go.

It's not a pre published setting, since all of the action is taking place after the history presented in Traveller Interstellar Wars. Hence the "post" part of the original listing. We are using the resource provided, to save time. It has the universe mapped out, and provides a starting point for further exploration, without having to "reinvent the wheel".

What's your problem with rotating GM's, anyway? We have three people that like to play and GM, we just swap campaigns, when some one needs a break. We have two Fantasy setting campaigns, and we just started the Ultra Tech Traveller setting, that Digital Boy is running. We go back to the same characters, when we resume a previous campaign, after the break. We haven't had anyone strain themselves, by carrying an extra character sheet, or two.

Why don't you get off your butt, and try it, before you criticize it.

Thanks guys.

Thanks.

Some times it feels like not many others out there play face to face anymore. What with WoW, and the text message obsession, it's a small wonder we can communicate , as a society, at all.

Thus, finding someone interested in a similar social gaming genre, is all the more infrequent. When I do interact with some one that is "interested", I tend to like to have a chance to game with them, at least once.

Our group still doesn't know what happened to Userzerosix. He showed up once, said he was on his way the following week, he even called to say he would be late. Then 'poof', a newly formed micro singularity swallowed him up, never to be heard from again. Never answered his cell number, or responded to E-mails.

Now, with gas prices, it looks less likely that our group will be "stealing" gamers from down your way. Hopefullly we can entice a few gamers from the "middle regions" of the county, into coming to San Marcos.

By the way, Neuromancer, if you're still living in Olivenhain, there is a new road through the Elfin Forest/ San Elijo Hills community, that directly links to Twin Oaks Valley Rd, and the 78 Freeway.

When do you want to start?

We will be playing again next Saturday night, at our usual place, in San Marcos. We play at one of the GM's house, up behind Cal State San Marcos, just off Twin Oaks Valley Rd.

We will be playing around 4:30 pm, but that time hasn't been set in stone yet. I'll have to double check with the others, as to what their work schedules are, but I know the "Host" is off Saturday.

We should probably get you there early, if not a different day, to coach you on the system. It's very simple to learn, but can become complex if you're into unique types of characters, or spell casters.

There are only four main "Stats" Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Health. Then there are four secondary "Stats" based upon the four main ones. Then there are "Advantages" to buy, skills to buy, and to get more "points" you can take Disadvantages, that give your character personality and motivation.

GURPS uses Character Points, to allow the player to "design" his hero of choice, so if you dump all of your points into physical abilities, there will be fewer points left, for the mental.

GURPS uses 3d6 for everything involving succes, or failure "checks". Basically, you roll below your target number for success. So a skill level of 14, or an attribute (Stat) of 14, would require an unmodified roll below that number, when you add those three dice together.

Oops, I gotta get to work! If you can check out "www.sjgames.com" they have some stuff you can download for free. Try to find "GURPS Lite" and give it a once over. I'll talk to you again later.

When we play.

We generally play Saturday nights around five o'clock, but that can be very flexible with other people's work schedules, as needed. We generally play late into early Sunday morning, when we play Saturday nights.

When the Host is off work Saturdays, he picks up one of our non-driving players, and I take them home, at night's end.

This weekend one of our ( regular and involved ) players is out of town, so we will actually be playing tomorrow morning at nine, and the Host will be picking up two non-driving players. The Host already scheduled a night time social activity, for himself, and my wife scheduled my nightime social activity for me.

We sometimes play Friday nights, if our weekly Saturday Night game meets a snag. The Host is the "Edge of Steam Technology" GM and we play at his house in San Marcos. Fridays have been infrequent mainly because of evening commute times for myself, and our ( currently out of town ) involved player, since we both have M-F regular jobs.

What is your situation on Saturdays, do you work, and then have a drive up to this area to factor in, or something like that? We are eager to get intelligent / creative / self transporting players for our game if possible. Let me know your availability, and I'll see what next weekends scheduled game time looks like.

I play GURPS 4th Edition with a group up here in North County. I have alot of 3rd Ed books I'm not using anymore. Heres a short list.

GURPS Basic Set 3rd Ed Revised $8

GURPS Reference Screen 3rd Ed $2

GURPS Bestiary 2nd Ed ( For the 3rd Ed Rules ) $5

GURPS High Tech 2nd Ed ( For the 3rd Ed Rules ) $5

GURPS Martial Arts 1st Ed ( For the 3rd Ed Rules ) $5

GURPS Space 2nd Ed ( For the 3rd Ed Rules ) $5

I would sell the above stuff for $30.00 combined, if I could meet you at Game Empire or something, or ship it all together for $40.00 total. I have a Pay Pal account and all that, in case you're wanting to play it safe. All of the books are in comic book sleeves, and are in fine condition. They were stored for the last twelve years.

I have alot more, including the GURPS Traveler World Books, Guides, and Expansion stuff. I also have some of the GURPS Magic, Fantasy Folk, Fantasy II setting, and Fantasy Bestiary type of books. What setttings are you playing in?

Ever Tried GURPS?

I am in my late 30's, and am part of a weekly gaming group, in San Marcos. We meet every Saturday at one member's house, up behind Cal State San Marcos.

We are currently playing in a D&D like world, using the GURPS system. If you are interested in playing, let me know.

We could also use a D&D 3.5 DM, since some of us played that originally, would like to again, but lost our DM, when he moved back south east for a new job.

Either way, we could use new players for GURPS, and/ or a D&D 3.5 DM. All are welcome, since the North County seems to be drying up for players willing to try new things, and for DM's that aren't already involved with their regular groups.

D&D plus Star Wars minis

The Star Wars commons, and uncommons are $1.00 each, and really (for example) if I haul them to Game Empire some Saturday, and you like eleven, I'll sell them for ten dollars.

The D&D commons and uncommons from Angelfire, WotDQ, War Drums, & Blood Wars are $1.00 each, regardless of size. The older commons and uncommons that I have, from Underdark, Giants of legend, Deathknell, Dragoneye, Archfiends, and Harbinger are $2.00 each. Same thing as above, pick enough minis, and I'll round down the price to an even ' ish number.

I have alot of Rares ( D&D + SWs ) and Very Rares ( SWs only ) from the various sets, so if you are looking for something specific, and don't like Ebay prices with shipping let me know.

I finally figured out how to list some miniatures (D&D) on Ebay, they are all themed "Lots", like all Dwarves, all Orcs, etc. Those items start to pop up tonight, from 5:30pm to 7:15pm, at two every fifteen minutes. I am "mongogrunt" on Ebay, and those items will close next Friday, at the same times they started. If you should happen to bid, and win, just shoot me a message that you're from RPG San Diego, and I'll send an invoice with out the usual shipping costs, IF you want me to bring them to you at Game Empire.

I haven't listed my D&D rares, or any Star Wars minis on Ebay, except for a few D&D minis to "spice up" my D&D lots. If you are after a specific miniature, just ask, and I'll see if I have it. My miniatures are in "screw/nuts & bolt" organizers from Home Depot. So it's not like they're all tossed into a shoebox, or something.
