At which point one's comparing apples to oranges as the Han character doesn't have the benefit of that refinement (and, indeed, suffers from Lucas' tendency towards second-guessing himself and inability to let good things just lie, re: shooting first).

Neither one has an eyepatch . That being said, and critiquing in terms of their surrounding culture, rather than anachronistically considering them as independent entities, I've got to go with Han because he established the archetype in science-fiction film and Mal inevitably borrowed traits from Han.
