I just like a "fun, geek drama-less game"
One shot ... Epic Saga so long as i don't have to deal with AC's of 33 at level 5 (DnD d20) I am a happy camper as a DM.

I say plan your character how you want to see him progress what he wants to do/be/be played and then ask the DM if this fits in the box that the DM sees the story moving in and then start the negotiations. Players shouldn't feel that they have to compromise what kinda of character they want to play/...

Geek Drama = Bickering who got the spotlight in a session. Holding a grudge in session and taking it with you into the next 6 sessions and letting spill out into the game instead of dealing with it appropriately. errmm a good example is DM Envy. DM Envy in a Shared game world (risky but oh well)... ...

Pacing is definitely tough to work out...
I find that pacing shouldn't be hard lined by time but by what is happening in the amorphus concept of time we have in the gaming window. if i were to break down a game in percentages 60% player hands on interaction (opposed rolls, combat, etc) all spaced out throughout the game window. 20% pure pla...
