As for will Fox cancel it right away - After week 2, I can see that Joss has learned his lesson from Firefly: Get your OverArching Storyline out there (Alpha the Rogue Luuuvs Echo) as soon as possible, because the Fox network don't likee the Delayed gratification!

Feng Shui vs. DnD exactly! In Feng Shui, if you do a crazy stunt (We're fighting on the back of a Semi? I charge and slide the 20' between us, kicking out his legs before grabbing hold of the stacks near the cab, and swinging around to land on my feet! ) you get BONUS dice, per the rules, to trip th...

SO ANYWAYS. LOOK OVER HERE! I FOUND THIS ABANDONED SUBJECT, JUST LYING ALONE! I really prefer to play the middle form (6-13 sessions) . That way, I get to play "endgame" scenarios, where accomplishing my character's goals is more important that surviving until the next level, but I have mo...

But, getting back to the thread topic... Comparing class-based (like d20) vs. skill based (like GURPS) games, I tend to think of classes as packages. For some number of XP, I gain access to a certain number of skill discounts and kewl powerz and benefits. When I "level," it just means I've...

First,
I also played in Devlin's Spirit of Century game and it made for fun time.
Hmmm... no, I disagree, on two points. Which brings me to my biggest gripe about this whole plot. If Linderman's whole plan relied on Nathan winning the election so he could be president, than why was he hiring Jessica to kill him? Chris
I thought he hired Jessica to wha...

Fred's Appendix to Scion: WWJD?

I did note that in a game universe where the WHOLE POINT is about being the Son of a God, that there's almost no mention of the whole JudeoChristoIslamic pantheon / mythologies, except that the Voodoo gods are "borrowing" Catholic saints. I think they could have put it out there tastefully...

So, I'm bumping this thread up again, because my wife and I are looking for a game. We're in the Mission Valley area. We're wondering what's out there. You met us at the Meet-up (playing in the SotC : BBanzai game : Wally(?) & Rocker) So far, I've seen a Scion game start (and fill) up, and there...
Where did you get this from? Chris
That was me. The Agamemnon Gambit (*) is, basically, staging a massive tragedy to unite the survivors under your leadership. To that end, The Linderman Group (which includes most of the elder Powers we've seen so far(**)) wants to cause...

I Am Not A Physicist... Maybe, instead of wireless communication not working, it works too well. Something starts broadcasting so much noise on radio frequencies that our current receivers can't pick up the signal in all the noise. Scifi Explanation: Lots of little nanotransmitters in the atmosphere...
This episode rocked. Kiring is apparently also a fan of X-Men. Chris
Heather and I, once we saw what was going on, said "Cool, Days of Future Past." It actually came up in my time-travel GURPS game last week, and I was so shocked at my normally left-wing -"Close Guantanamo"-NPR loving players choosing to torture some NPCs, that I handled it very badly, and sort of cruised on autopilot with my next few calls. It went very bad, very fast...

My better half may be accompanying me, and is a gamer herself. It depends if she shakes the cold that has been dogging her earlier this week. She has a strict "No infecting the new friends" rule! She's a vegetarian, so we were thinking of bringing some grillable veggies for her, as a grill...
I agree with most of what your pointing out. I would imagine you'd want to avoid one of the "adventure" based systems (d20), and probably use one of the more "indy games" rules-set (FUDGE?) Maybe a rules-lite GURPS system. XP might be like "action points" spent to influence / avoid rolls. It doesn't make sense for...

I like an opaque game, with transparancy at certain key points. If I'm playing a neonate in a WOD Vampire Game, I don't want the ST to plunge me into complex negotiations with the Prince to defend against the utter destruction of the city. It's part of the GM's job to make sure the challenges for my...
