Re: Hyphen-Con 14 (2018) - Pimp Your Games Thread

I have two games that I would like to run:

1. Blades in the Dark - the original! Become a gang of criminals trying to make it in the dirty, dark, industrial city of Doskvol!

2. Arabian World - an Al Qadim conversion for Dungeon World. Fantasy adventure in a world of genies and flying carpets!

OK, so here's my idea - Monde de la Bête! Essentially, it's Animal D&D (using 5e). All races will be animal races. Standard classes. But the setting is all animals. Also moving the tech level forward a little (think flintlock rifles and pistols, sabres, dirks, etc, emerging imperialistic nations...

Quick announcement for those who are still paying attention - the Sunday board game day will start late this year. I have a previous engagement in the morning. So probably won't get there until around noon or 12:30pm.

New Address for Koretech building, where The Hyph will be at

Incidentally, Kore has moved, which also means the location of HyphenCon has moved too!

The new address is:
5186 Carroll Canyon Rd
San Diego, CA 92121

It's a one story building.

Re: Hyphen-Con 2013:: Pimp Your Game! [Extended Deadline!]

Here are my submissions. I have two ideas - a) ACTION-COOL-TEAM! A game based on '70-'80s action adventure TV shows (like A-Team, Charlie's Angels, Starsky and Hutch, Riptide, Blue Thunder, etc), using the Lady Blackbird system. b) PPAS - Pentex Predicament Avoidance Squad. Re: Iron Kingdoms

I like the idea of having a shared past that allows our characters to know each other. I'd like it to be a little broader, however, so that there is the possibility of choosing from any of the races/careers/etc in the book. For instance, if I choose to be a Gobber Thief, it'll be hard to explain how...

I'd be interested in a campaign of Monster Hearts. I'd only be interested in Apocalypse World if we replace the Sex Moves with something else. Because they're just plain annoying. Dungeon World is less interesting to me because (a) there are a lot of other D&D versions out there, and we've been ...

To be clear - I think PC conflict can be fun and great. But in Smallville it's the end-all and be-all of the game. And *that* I'm not interested in. It's just a visceral reaction. Like smelling a fart. I cringe back from it.
