[Aleph Null]
Aleph Null uses the following house rules.
Character Points
Cyberware
Ghost Differential
Initiative
Three Count
Character Points
Character points are awarded at the sole discretion of the GM.
Points will be awarded after each session. Only players who submit a wrap up sheet will be eligible for point awards. In general, awards will be given out for role-playing, humor, achieving session goals, player nominations, attendance, and journal entries. In addition, bringing a miniature that resembles your character is worth 2 points. Painting this miniature is worth another 3 points.
Cyberware
A complete breakdown of the cyberware used in Aleph Null can be found here:
Aleph Null Cyberware
Ghost Differential
As characters purchase cyberware, they will accumulate a ghost differential. The ghost differential is the point total of any cyberware you have implanted that has not been paid off using character points. Once this cyberware has been paid off, the point cost is subtracted from the ghost differential. Although the exact rules will not be posted, characters with a high ghost differential may find themselves taking on disadvantages without the associated point benefit.
Initiative
A character's base initiative is his Move + 1d. In the event of a tie, the character with the higher basic speed goes first. Initiative is modified by the following (dis)advantages:
Absent-Mindedness: -2
Alerted Time Sense: +1 per level of wired reflexes.
Combat Reflexes: +2 (this includes boosted reflexes and a cortex co-processor).
Combat Paralysis: -2
Confused: -5
Danger Sense: +3 on a successful roll
Enhanced Time Sense: +1d for a cortex co-processor.
Indecisive: -2
Three Count
Each turn in GURPS represents one second. To represent the sometimes rushed nature of combat, the GM may institute a three count by holding up three fingers. If, when prompted, you cannot decide what action to take before the end of the three count, your character is considered to be taking a 'do nothing' action.
Characters with wired reflexes get a ten count per level of altered time rate.
Characters with a cortex co-processor are immune to the three count.
